The Motorola ROKR Z6m is a thin, narrow slider highlighted with elegant finishes. Crafted of rich housing materials, the ROKR Z6m takes full advantage of the slider form factor and make life easier by accomplishing most anything in both the open and closed positions. Music is a priority for the ROKR Z6m. Featuring an integrated music player, the ROKR Z6m comes equipped with a 3.5 mm headset jack, stereo Bluetooth connectivity, and up to 2 GB removable memory. Additionally, consumers can transfer their digital music collections in seconds via the the USB 2.0 high speed connection.

The Z6m’s display is just like the Rizr Z6tv’s. It measures 2 inches and supports 65,000 colors. Though that’s a step down from the 262,000-color display on the Rizr Z3, such a change is common on CDMA phones. Colors still looked bright and graphics and animations were sharp. You can change the brightness and the backlight time, but not the font size. Alltel doesn’t have its own menu interface; it uses Moto’s date design instead. On the other hand, the Z6m does support Alltel’s nifty Celltop interface. You can read all about it in our review of Alltel’s Samsung SCH-u520.

Surrounding the display are touch controls for the music player. As expected, you can open the player and manage your playlist without even opening the phone. We also were pleased to find touch controls for activating the W755′s Bluetooth and silent mode. Both are very convenient, particularly if you’re driving. All of the touch controls provide vibrating feedback and can be locked to prevent accidental activation.

razr2_v9m.jpg

The MOTORAZR 2 V9m is a technological show-stopper equipped with an astonishing array of features. The stunning evolution of the RAZR™ brand, the RAZR 2 V9m sports a sleek and sophisticated look with the power of 3G CDMA technology. Advanced music and imaging capabilities, USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity, stereo Bluetooth wireless technology8 stereo and GPS technology are just a few of features that consumers are craving, and the RAZR 2 V9m delivers.

Price Range: $419.99 – $449.99

Though thin phones have become ubiquitous, you can’t talk about the trend without mentioning the phone that started it all: the Motorola Razr. Its slim shadow continues to loom over the cell phone world, and Moto continues to capitalize on the design with countless updated models. But it’s only the Razr2 that brings a total makeover to the design. Though it can’t qualify as the world’s thinnest phone (not like it would hold that record long anyway) the V9m is slimmer (4.05×2.08×0.46 inches) than the original Razr V3. Yet more importantly, it just looks a whole lot sexier and more streamlined. The hinge is somewhat more prominent, but the “double chin” bottom that holds the antenna is hammered almost flat. The dark pearl-gray color scheme is a tad boring; we prefer the mahogany hue on AT&T’s Razr2 V9. Yet we liked the V9m’s steel casing and the plate of hardened glass on the front face. Yes, they mean that the V9m weighs more (4.1 ounces) than its predecessor, but the extra heft gives the phone a sturdy feel while simultaneously making it comfortable to hold in the hand.

How can you make a RAZR2 less fun? By slapping the same old interface on it that you’d find on a free phone, that’s how. Verizon Wireless’s RAZR2 is the same gorgeous chunk of metal and glass that you see hawked by the other wireless carriers, with the same excellent voice quality too. But Verizon’s pedestrian menu system manages to take a lot of the wow and pizzazz out of the phone.

One of the more notable features in the Razr2 V9m is the inclusion of a 2-megapixel camera. Along with that camera comes quite a few options, such as brightness, a timer, shutter controls, white balance, color effects (sepia, black and white, and negative), fun frames, and even a multiple-shot option for capturing several frames of the same object quickly. The camera lacks a flash, but there is a 4X zoom that’s not immediately obvious. While the screen doesn’t automatically flip into horizontal mode when you turn the cell phone in this direction, you can manually make this adjustment when in camera mode. You can also easily snap self-portraits when using the camera with the cell phone closed.

As for picture quality, the Razr2 is pretty good at capturing flesh tones and surroundings. Video quality is acceptable as well. Since the Razr2 V9m comes with 65MB of internal memory, you should have no problem saving a plethora of pictures on this cell phone. Additionally, if you want to get the pictures off of the phone, you can opt to print them, then have them sent to your house or pick them up at a store by signing up for a Picture Mail account. One last note: Remember to turn off the camera application when you’re finished, or the external screen will be in viewfinder mode when the cell phone is closed.

Summary of Key Features:

  • Thin and strong sculpted body with vacuum metalized finish
  • Large 2.0″ QVGA 65k color external display with touch sensitive music keys

The Motorola W490 is crafted with sleek, compact style and compelling communication features to keep mobile consumers in touch with ease. Offering multiple messaging options, a vibrant color screen, lengthy talk-time, this affordable flip phone is a must-have. Go beyond the flip and experience the freedom to talk wirelessly, and capture moments in a snap.

Price Range: $139.99   -  $169.99

Like the W385, the W490 sports a design that’s based loosely on the Motorola Krzr K1. Though it’s not nearly as streamlined as its Krzr cousin–the W490 is boxier with sharper angles–it has the same slender shape with similar dimensions (3.89 inches by 1.89 inches by 0.68 inch). At 3.7 ounces, it’s a bit on the heavy side for a flip phone, but you’re rewarded with a handset that has a sturdy construction and a solid feel in the hand. Our W490 review model came in basic black, but T-Mobile also sells versions in purple and green.

Released for T-Mobile, the Motorola W490′s streamlined and compact exterior borrows inspiration from the iconic slim KRZR design. Convenient to fit in a pocket or in the palm, the smooth and eye-catching flip mechanism is attention-grabbing for savvy and fashion-forward consumers looking for fun and function in their device. Measuring only 17 mm thick, the W490 packs in a large 262K-color display, the Motorola W510 allows you to handle your communication needs with effortless style. Taking and sending images is simple using the integrated 1.3-megapixel camera. With a versatile 8x digital zoom, the W490 captures everything from spontaneous moments to posed shots, and allows users to view, print or share at the touch of a button.

The hip Motorola W490 for T-Mobile an easy-to-use flip phone that offers great style and a little bit more fun for a great price. Thin and sleek, the Motorola W490 makes it simple to slide into any pocket or purse. Inside, the Motorola W490 features myFaves “Fave 5″ dialing software, color screen and built-in MP3 music player. That’s an easy phone to own and love – at a great price!

Motorola W315

315.jpg

Simple is good. The ‘simple is good’ principle applies to the Motorola W315. It comes with the basics. The W315 looks sophisiticated and yet is simple to use. Get the job done and do it with the style and quality that you expect from Motorola. Choosing a phone has never been easier, and using the W315 is simple, familiar and friendly.

Price Range: $109.99  – 149.99

At 3.48 by 1.96 by 0.98 inches and 4.06 ounces, the Motorola W315 is a bit hefty for such a basic phone. We didn’t see it as a problem, but the dimensions can mean a trade-off for other users. Though the W315 slips easily into a bag, it can be a bit much for smaller pockets when you’re out for a night on the town. A stubby antenna adds more girth, but we’re used to that from a CDMA phone. On the whole, the W315 felt comfortable in the hand but we couldn’t help notice the hinge mechanism was a tad loose. We didn’t have any problems, but it didn’t flip open with a sturdy click. On the other hand, we liked the blue color, the rounded edges, and the rubberized texture on the W315′s exterior.

Offering user-friendly features in a stylish, affordable handset, the Motorola W315 is the perfect mobile for easy, on-the-go communications. With advanced messaging features and ample talk and standby times, the W315 gives you the tools to stay in touch and on track. Combining stylish design with smart functionality, the W315 features a vivid color screen, unique external display and a tactile soft-touch finish – all at a budget-friendly price.

The audio quality of the W315 in calls is good, though; we found that both sent and received voices were clearly reproduced without the overemphasized bass or treble that we see on many phones. And it’s also easy to manage contacts and calls; the included contact manager and call logging features are basic, but easy to use. Our only issue is that you can’t search the contact list for a particular name; you can only type the first letter of the first name, then scroll down the list. this could be a real pain if you have a lot of friends; the E315 can hold up t thousand contacts, but scrolling through that many would be a frustrating exercise.

With a more curved, pebble-esque look than the Nokia N8, the Nokia C7 also looks more like a phone, with its call and end buttons sitting pretty underneath the screen. The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro returns for its second model year with only a few minor changes.
