The phone has attractive features like Bluetooth, WAP browser, VGA camera, polyphonic ringtones, etc. One can also record short videos in the video camera that the phone is equipped with. The L6i also has FM Radio, which means now you can listen to your favorite radio show on the move. This slim phone has the capability to fit in your tightest jeans and not look like a bulge! Weighing just 86 grams, this sleek and light phone is sure to go with your suave looks and personality.

Motorola SLVR L6, or Motorola L6, originally called Motorola SLIM L6, is a very thin candy-bar shaped mobile phone from Motorola. The phone was released before its heavily advertised brother, the SLVR L7. The L6 held the title of the thinnest mobile phone in the UK for a short while, before being beaten by the Samsung P300. Features of the L6 include Bluetooth, MP3 ring tones, camera and video on it. It is basically a cut-down version of the SLVR L7 with all functions except for iTunes (U.S only) and the use of external memory. The SLVR L6 also has a smaller screen than that of the SLVR L7. A new version of the L6 called L6i adds FM radio function.

As we stated earlier, the Motorola Slvr L6 has a comfortable selection of midrange features. Casual cell phones users will appreciate the Bluetooth, speakerphone, and Motorola Screen3 technology, but more hard-core users will lament the lack of a music player and a high-resolution camera. We’ll review the essentials first, however. The 500-contact phone book is adequate, and there’s room in each entry for six phone numbers, an e-mail address, a postal address, and a birth date; the SIM card holds an additional 250 names. You can assign contacts to caller groups, pair them with a picture for photo caller ID, or assign them any of 24 polyphonic ring tones. The phone also supports MP3 ring tones. Other basic features include a vibrate mode, a mini-USB port, a calculator, a date book, and an alarm clock. Messaging features are plentiful, with support for text, enhanced, and multimedia messaging. You also get instant messaging for AOL, Yahoo, and ICQ platforms.

Motorola E398

e398.jpg

The main highlight of the Motorola E398 is of course, its music features. Featuring 22KHz stereo speakers on either side of the handset, the E398 has been designed as a dual-device which combines an MP3 player with a mobile phone. The loudspeaker provides good solid sound playback – a first in the mobile phone world. You can also use the included headset for listening to music or while on a call, though we found the speakerphone option to be quite useful and easy to use.

As well as storing MP3 and Midi files in the E398’s 64MB memory card, you can set your favourite tracks as your ring tone, or compose something original using the MotoMixer – Motorola’s DJ mixing function.

With its dimensions of 108 x 46 x 21 mm Motorola E398 belongs to mid big handsets. The construction is classic, with a keypad on the front. The front side is dominated by the active colour display, which sizes respectively are 30 x 37 mm. It features resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and displays 65k colours. This top class display offers very good brightness and contrast and is well readable even in outdoor light.

All things considered, the E898 is an exceptionally well-featured phone. It’s attractively styled, compact, with a user-friendly icon-driven user interface, and it’s not heavy when you consider how many features the phone has. The phone is well-built and feels good to hold, with an easy-to use keypad and joystick. We highly recommend this phone for those looking for a combined phone and MP3 player. You should also consider the Motorola ROKR E1 with its iTunes interface.
