This is a one of a kind cell phone with a real novelty in terms of looks. Everybody, even my most blasé friends, were amazed at how it looks, the great blue backlight and the cover that unfolds sideways. Apart from that, the Motorola V70 is quite similar to most recent Motorola cell phones. A good phonebook system with memory for 1000 names!, a melody composer (limited but handy), excellent sound quality and a small size and weight.
This small beauty has got a sharp memory and is able to remember up to 500 different contacts with the ability to retain multiple numbers for each contact. This is other than the memory offered by the SIM card. The phone also possesses storage capacity for 64 ringtones of which 32 are standard and the other 32 are custom. Features include Calculator with the ability of currency conversions; calendar to store important meetings / dates / appointments even the odd elusive anniversary and birthday. The alarm reminders are a part of calendar and date book feature ensuring you never forget an entry once made in the calendar/date book. Customized faceplates make the phone look even sexier than it already is. Ringtones can also be customized i.e. either downloaded or created by the user himself via the built-in composer.
To make a call, you rotate the cover 180 degrees and expose the V70’s blue-backlit keypad. The phone takes on a candy bar-style look and feel that’s fairly comfortable to talk on for long periods of time. True, the keys are a tad small and may not appeal to those with larger fingers, but we didn’t suffer any misdials. However, we had a little trouble pressing the two-button, rockerlike, internal-navigation key since it was so closely located to the LCD’s edge. Conversely, we didn’t have any difficulties with the identical rocker key found on the outside of the phone that’s used to navigate menus when the keypad is covered.
