The Motorola V878 has an excellent hi-fi 300,000 pixel camera on board. The camera also has a built-in flash which can be used for getting clear pictures even when surrounding light is insufficient. The handset can also shoot video and has a TFT color display with a resolution of 176 x 220 and 65,536 colors.
The Motorola V878 does not come with an MP3 player. This phone comes with built in polyphonic ringtones, which means you can download simple MIDI files from the Internet and upload them through your phone, or simply download them via GRPS (if GRPS is built in). We do not recommend purchasing polyphonic ringtones from pay-per-use services such as television commercials, because the V878 is capable of receiving them as MIDI files which are common on the Internet.
The V878 comes with 65,000-color screens for both its internal and external displays. The external LCD is smallish at 96 x 64 pixels but produces a sharp and bright image. It also doubles as an effective viewfinder for self-portraits. The internal TFT LCD isn’t particularly large at 128 x 160 pixels, either, but is bright and offers clear, vibrant colors–one of the better displays we’ve seen. The V878 sounds as good as it looks. The 40-chord polyphony is musical and crystal clear, again among the best we’ve come across. Volume gets loud enough for its ringtones but the default message alert tones may be a tad soft.
